About Our Therapist
Cristina McKay, CMFT
Cristina McKay’s passion for animals goes way back to her childhood. As a young child, she had dreams of working with them. Whether it be a dog trainer or a veterinarian, she knew she wanted her life to revolve around them. That quickly changed, around age 11. Her mother took in a foster child that spent a significant amount of time in the hospital. She was immediately in awe of the dedication, compassion and love the healthcare workers displayed for this sweet little girl, her foster sister. For that reason, she decided to pursue a career in healthcare.
In 2005, she started school to become a Surgical Technologist and Surgical First Assistant. In 2008, after graduating with honors, she was hired at the University of Michigan main operating rooms as a Neurosurgical Scrub. Eventually, she chose to leave the operating rooms to become a stay at home mom. As her children grew and became more independent, she found herself with a significant amount of free time. She loved helping people while working in healthcare but, also wanted to go back to her childhood dream of working with animals. This is when her idea of pet waste removal started, and her first business, Puppy Poo Patrol was born.
In reality, Puppy Poo Patrol was even more exciting than Cristina had originally envisioned. After only 1 year, she had crushed her goals. What Cristina has accomplished in such a short amount of time is astonishing. Cristina loves her job, and it shows. Cristina says, “I love my clients. They are some of the kindest humans I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I also love donating my services when and where I can. I love coming to your home to help with a chore that most people dislike or in some cases, simply cannot physically do. I love visiting your pups and absolutely adore their excited kisses and wiggle-butts! I have gotten back to my childhood passion of working with animals. It is practically a dream come true!”
Cristina soon realized that she desired a more hands on career with animals; specifically with helping their physical health, emotional health, and overall well-being. This is when she decided to expand and follow her passion by starting her own dog massage therapy and wellness clinic.
Cristina is a Certified Canine Myo-Manipulative Functional Therapist (CCMFT). She is currently working on completing courses to become a Certified Cold Laser Therapist (CCLT), Certified Holistic Carnivore Nutritionist (CHCN). Cristina is also a member of IAAMB. Her knowledge and education will always be kept current with her own personal requirement continuing her education as new research, and techniques emerge.
